Texas cop charged in taser assault
A La Porte, Texas, police officer was charged with assault last Thursday for unnecessary use of a taser.
Officer Carl Davis was caught on videotape choking a man and then using a taser on him when it is clear that the man posed no threat. Davis was also the subject of a beating allegation last year where the city paid the alleged victim 100 thousand dollars to settle the case. He did not face criminal charges in that case. Davis is currently on paid leave. He faces one year in prison if convicted.
