Alabama sex offender cop sentenced to 3 years probation
A registered sex offender who was hired as a police officer in Blountsville, Alabama, pleaded guilty on Monday to a charge of violating the state's community notification act.

An Associated Press report says that officer John Langston was fired from his job as a Vestavia Hills police officer after he pleaded guilty to the sexual abuse of a 12 year old girl. Langston was hired by the Blountsville department in March 2005 but resigned last month after he was charged. After the guilty plea a judge sentenced him to ten years in prison but then suspended the sentence. Langston will instead serve three years of probation.
