A police officer in Middleton, New York, pleaded guilty to official misconduct on Tuesday.

General Abuse and Crime

The Hudson Valley News says that officer Patrick Moser pleaded guilty to the single misdemeanour charge in exchange for several other charges against him being dropped. Moser was originally charged with perjury, tampering with public records, offering a false instrument for filing and official misconduct. He was accused of falsifying a report to make a case against a person seem stronger than it actually was. He indicated that in April a person showed up to participate in a police lineup to identify a subject when the person actually had not appeared for a line up. The fact that Moser suffers from alcoholism and depression was considered a mitigating factor in the case. Moser is no longer a police officer.
